But only if I thought it was a special neck and not easily replaced. I've got a few like that but not in need of a regret. But I'm pretty easy on my gear and don't wear though things as quickly as some.

If tone were not an issue, you'd see more SS on acoustics IMHO. I seriously doubt they are banking on refret money.... WebJun 17, 2015 · My last refret was with stainless steel on my #1 Lowden. I see no downsides. You might also consider EVO. Some folk claim to hear a difference with stainless (I don't) but say that they don't hear that with EVO.
