PFAS are known as “forever chemicals” since many of them don’t break down easily in the environment. PFAS can be found in humans, wildlife, and fish. 1 A number of PFAS are on the REACH Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHC), for example PFOA, perfluorinated carboxylic acids (C9-14 PFCAs) and PFHxS.
